The Full Story
The Stockland Bristol Village Club is a nonprofit, members‑only traditional Somerset club serving the community of Stockland Bristol and the surrounding villages. The Club is managed by a dedicated team of volunteers who ensure its smooth running and preserve its deep‑rooted sense of community.

The building began its life as the village school, erected in 1880 to educate the children of Stockland Bristol. Over the decades that followed, attendance gradually declined, and by 1941—when pupil numbers were no longer sufficient to sustain it—the school closed its doors, marking the end of an era in the village’s educational history.

After the Second World War, in 1950, the vacant school building was repurposed as a local amenity. It first operated as the Stockland Sports Club, later became the Sports & Social Club, and is known today as the Stockland Bristol Village Club.
